Why the Female Gaze Matters
Let’s be honest: anyone who’s scrolled through mainstream porn knows the script. Lots of performance, very little reciprocity. Endless blowjob scenes, camera angles focused solely on the female performer, her intense moans while he stays perfectly silent. The genre is still dominated by the so-called “male gaze.” It’s made for an imagined cis-heterosexual man, and it’s his pleasure that drives the plot.
From my perspective, working closely with erotic storytelling and audience behavior, the issue isn’t just visual but structural. At its core is the assumption that porn is primarily for men because women supposedly don’t watch it. Nothing could be further from the truth: according to the latest Pornhub Year in Review, around 38% of viewers in 2025 were women — a 14% increase over the past decade.¹ At CHEEX, two-thirds of our community identify as female. Women are not a niche audience. They are an active and growing one, and want their desires to be represented.
In response, the term “female-friendly porn” has emerged in recent years. Sounds promising, but is often misleading. “For women” doesn’t automatically mean candles, soft focus, or vanilla, romantic sex. The idea that female pleasure is inherently gentle, sweet, or “not too explicit” is just another cliché in disguise.
The truth is: pleasure is personal. It can be playful, raw, tender, loud, quiet, dominant, curious — and it’s never one-dimensional.
When I evaluate erotic films through a female gaze lens, I look for something specific:
- • Whose pleasure structures the narrative?
- • Does the camera align with her experience?
- • Is consent visible and active?
- • Does desire feel mutual, embodied, and subjective?
Good films that center female pleasure aren’t defined by floral aesthetics but by real chemistry, clear consent, eye-level perspectives, and diverse stories of desire.
Here are five films that pass that test — with fair pay, hot diversity, and zero outdated, male-centered clichés.
1. CHEEX Original: Fantastic Squirt
Jasko walks into a Berlin bar, expecting just a quick beer but finds something far more electrifying. Amid whisky glasses, cigarette smoke, and conversations about queer dating shows, she locks eyes with Muriel. That one glance pulls Jasko into a vivid, sensual daydream. CHEEX’s first German-language Original „Fantastic Squirt“, conceived and directed by Jasko Fide, is a film made through the female gaze: a celebration of Berlin, its queer bars, and the fantasies that spark there.
Why this film is one of my favorites: Approachable, playful, and seductive, Jasko Fide captures female pleasure in all its complexity. The film truly shows what pleasure is all about — it’s tension, imagination, and the electricity of two glances that create desire.

2. CHEEX x Afterglow: How I Like It Series
„How I Like It“ is a two-part series exploring the sexiness of communication, created in collaboration between CHEEX and afterglow. In a sunlit bedroom, glances become messages and touches become dialogue. Vanessa says exactly what she wants. Michael listens and responds with just the right mix of curiosity, respect, and timing to heighten her pleasure. The female gaze guides the camera, capturing desire from her perspective and showing that communication is the ultimate aphrodisiac.
Why this film is one of my favorites: If this series is about anything, it’s about how Vanessa likes it. Female pleasure is front and center. A series demonstrating how liberating it is to openly communicate what you want with a partner who truly listens.

3. One More Fuck
The evening before her wedding, Katrina Colt gets cold feet. In dim light and hushed silence, she confesses to Ryan McLane, her fiancé’s best friend, her fear of commitment and of the idea of sleeping with only one person for the rest of her life. The tension builds, and their desire finally overcomes reason and taboo.
Why this film is one of my favorites: „One More Fuck“ is the ultimate forbidden-fruit fantasy, captured entirely from the perspective of female desire. Hot, playful, and utterly irresistible.

4. Vibe
„Vibe“ explores a playful, sensual threesome, free from pressure or expectation. Canelita, Puck, and Bunny explore each other’s bodies, from gentle touches to passionate licking and favorite toys. The film is shot to center queer female pleasure, letting their curiosity and delight in the moment take the spotlight.
Why this film is one of my favorites: „Vibe“ radiates sensuality and indulgence — a menage à trois that’s fully guided by the female gaze: hot, playful, and utterly irresistible.

5. CHEEX Exclusive: Her Pleasure
Real couple Mara and Ben embark on a shared BDSM adventure. Mara fully surrenders to slow, sensual pleasure from Ben — blindfolded and bound to the bed. „Her Pleasure“ unfolds as an intimate dance of tease and pull, focusing entirely on female pleasure and capturing the nuances of desire, anticipation, and surrender.
Why this film is one of my favorites: „Her Pleasure“ shows that BDSM can be a sensual, empowering power play — completely pressure-free and fully focused on female pleasure.
